Best Coast – “Boyfriend”Vodpod videos no longer available.
This is the second time I’ve posted a video from an artist while openly complaining that they hadn’t made a video for a different song that I prefer only to find a video of the preferred song in my RSS reader just in time for Music Video Monday! It’s like I control the internet!
Flying Lotus – “Kill Your Co-Workers”
I can’t get into Flying Lotus. I know he’s John Coltrane’s great-nephew and everybody thinks he’s a visionary and everything, but I’m just not feeling it. That said, this song serves as a pretty awesome soundtrack to a video about robots killing people during a parade.
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – “Home”
I heard this song in an NFL commercial yesterday and assumed I already had it on my computer. I was definitely familiar with it. Turns out it’s just been in a lot of movies and television shows and the like. Funny how that happens. I’m not sure if this is the official video or not, but it works.
Whoever is picking the songs for NFL commercials lately is doing a great job. The Arcade Fire ads from the Super Bowl were outstanding.
The Drums – “Best Friend”
Firstly, I might have mentioned last week, I am surprisingly into hazy, reverb-y music for some reason right now. This has manifested itself in my listening habits in two types of bands: bands that sound sort of New Wave-y, and bands that sound surfer rock-y. The Drums satisfy both of those cravings, so they’ve been getting a lot of spins.
Secondly, I really doubt I would get along with the lead singer of The Drums were I to meet him, but I love him in videos.
Mos Def – “Umi Says”
I’ve been playing a ton of NBA 2K11 lately, which is just dripping with Michael Jordan nostalgia and worship. In honor of His Airness, here’s an old commercial for one of his many shoe iterations featuring one of my favorite tracks off of Mos Def’s seminal Black on Both Sides. This song brings me STRAIGHT back to high school.
